The Year in Review--Top Cards of the Year

As the year draws to an end, I thought it would be fun to revisit the cards I made this year.  Some are posted on this web site and others are on my old blog at http://www.beckysstampingspot.stampinup.net.  Choosing these cards was really difficult.  I think at the time I make each card, it becomes my favorite.  And looking through these I see which stamp sets became my favorites too!

One of the first cards I made this year was for my husband's 99 year old aunt.  It uses the Bloomin' Heart Thinlitsand the Large Number framelits.  (Now I need to outdo myself for her 100th coming up in a couple of weeks!).  I also made these cards using the Birthday Blooms--I love to watercolor and these were done in different colors.

Using the same Botanical Builder Framelit dies, you can see that using different colors can make a huge difference in the cards you make.

The next card uses the Detailed Floral Thinlit Dies.  And the next uses a new stamp set that came out in the annual catalog.  It totally reminds me of lazy summer days here in the South.

I loved using the Baby Bear from the Bear Hugs set to make a baby card.  I used the stripe stamp from Work of Art to make the background and the balloons came from the Balloon Celebration Stamp Set.  It's a lot of fun to combine the best of the stamp sets to make what you like!  And using the same stamp set to make a masculine card!

One of my favorite Christmas cards was this one using the Detailed Santa thinlits.  Love how he shines with the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer card stock.

And the final card is the card I made for the Atlanta Onstage swap.  I loved watercoloring and love this stamp set!

I hope you've enjoyed this walk with me down memory lane!

Happy Holidays and Happy Stamping!

Need Gift Ideas?

Christmas will be here before you know it!  Do you need ideas for your crafty friends and family?  Maybe someone who thinks they aren't crafty but would like to learn?  Then Paper Pumpkin is the ideal gift!

You can purchase a one month, 3 month, 6 month or even 12 month subscription and give them the gift of creativity!  The kits come with virtually all you need to complete the kit (you might need scissors or adhesive--the first kit even comes with a clear stamping block!) and most of the kits are card kits.  And for those kits that are something other than cards?  You can still use the stamps, inks and paper to make cards out of the items in the kit!  Each kit includes exclusive stamp sets and ink spots to coordinate with the paper products.  Embellishments, die cuts and sometimes stickers are also included.  Purchase enough kits to reach $150 and you will receive Stampin' Rewards that you can use for yourself!  Purchase them here

You can also start a month-to-month subscription too!  Subscribe here or you can click on the monthly kit tab at the top of the page.

Purchase a Paper Pumpkin as a gift and I will send you a gift certificate that you can print to give to the recipient.

When you purchase a gift, Stampin' Up! will send you a redemption code that the recipient will have to use to set up an account.  They will then be able to manage their account.  Did you know that you can suspend an account if you don't want to get a kit that month?  You cannot suspend the paid subscriptions but only the month-to-month.

Give the gift of creativity this year!  Give Paper Pumpkin!

Balloon Pop-Up Birthday Card

I designed this birthday card for a member of my team.

This is such a fun card to make!  I'm loving this Party Animal Suite in the new Occasions catalog (available January 4) -- so many cute things you can do with the dies, paper, stamps and embellishments!

And the big surprise is when you open the card

The balloons just pop up and are so unexpected!  Stampin' Up! has a video on how to use these pop-up dies

All the instructions for this card can be found here

This is a birthday card I made for one of the demonstrators in my downline. It uses products from the new Occasions catalog available January 4th. The impact comes when you open the card!

Are You Ready for the Holidays?

Are you ready for the Holidays?  No?  Me neither!  We had planned to get the outside of the house decorated today but it's raining.  No rain for 2 months and now it's raining so we are happy for the rain but really wanted to get a start on our decorating.  The inside of the house will just have to wait--I've got too much to do in my craft room!

I need to finish up (come up with an idea and make) my Christmas cards and I need to make other cards (birthday, get well, sympathy, and thank you cards).  There just aren't enough hours in the day to do all I want to do!

My mom started a tradition of making crocheted Christmas stockings for everyone in the family.  Each generation has a different color scheme:  My mom and dad's are burgundy and white, my generation is kelly green and white, my children's are red with white trim and my grandchildren's are white with red.  My mom passed away a few years ago and I was the only one who crocheted so I took over the job of making the stockings.  I have a new great-niece and so this weekend I have been working on her stocking (I meant to do this a few weeks ago and just never got around to doing it--too busy card making!)

This is the stocking I made for my grandson and like the one I am making for my niece

It doesn't take too much time to make the stocking but the fringe takes a lot of time!  I want to get this new one in the mail tomorrow so I had better get back to crocheting!

I have reached a point in my life where I no longer get stressed over the holidays.  House doesn't get decorated? No problem.  Cards don't get mailed before Christmas?  Well, there is always New Year's (a friend of mine sends hers out for Groundhog's Day!)  Seems like there's no time?  Take time for yourself!  Life won't end because everything doesn't get done and look perfect.

Enjoy the holidays and don't stress over every little detail!

Watercolor Thank You Swap Card

Onstageswap3

This is the second card I made for my swaps for On Stage Atlanta. This card is CASE'd from a card done by Billie Moan (Ramblingrosestudio.com). I used different colors, stamps and techniques but she supplied the inspiration. So, Thank you Billie!

November Paper Pumpkin Gift Card Holder

As I played around with my November Paper Pumpkin kit, I came to realize that the small cards are perfect as gift card holders.  My daughter has requested 4 gift card holders to give gifts to her son's teachers and this will be perfect!  Most of the work is already done for me--I just have to stamp and put together!  I did decide to use the Gently Falling Embossing Folder on the vellum layer to mimic snow falling.

To create the inside part to hold the gift card, I took some Pool Party cardstock and used the Sleigh Ride edgelits (from last year's Holiday catalog).

I used all three of the edgelits (only the tree one is pictured) to make the cards a little different from each other.

I plan to do a few other alternatives in the next few days so stay tuned...
