Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Do you make valentines?  I have 7 grandchildren so I have been busy making Valentines for the kiddos!

The Hey Love stamp set was perfect for kid's valentines and the January Paper Pumpkin kit was all about valentines too!

My youngest grandson (6 months old) has a nursery theme of foxes so Foxy Friends was perfect for him!

Some of the stamps were from Paper Pumpkin and some of the diecuts as well.

Go make some valentines of your own!

Geared Up Valentine/Anniversary Card

I am part of a Tutorial Coop so each month we are given a theme and have to make a tutorial using that theme.  January's theme was Valentine's, Anniversary, Love.  It's great getting to see what everyone else makes and then share those tutorials with YOU!  (I send them out in my newsletter so you have to have signed up for my emails to receive them--Sign up here)

Here is the card I created for my tutorial:

It's so hard sometimes to come up with something that is masculine. Since my guy is "Mr. Fix-It" and does all the work on our cars, I loved using this to make him a valentine.  Even after being together for over 50 years he still "jump starts my heart".

Now all the details on the card:  Geared Up Garage stamp set, Garage Gears Dies, Be Mine Stitched Dies, Classic Garage Designer Paper

Wow! Things are Rapidly Selling Out

Many items in the Sale-a-Bration catalog are selling in record numbers!  This is just a reminder that all items in the catalogs may be "as supplies last"!  And not only the SAB items.  Many of the items in the Occasions and annual catalogs too are on backorder.

Stampin' Up! has a difficult job in trying to predict what is going to be popular and what won't.  While many items right now (not the stamps as Stampin' Up! makes those themselves) are currently unorderable, more supplies are in the pipeline!  The Chinese New Year and port delays are holding up shipments of many of these items:

  • #149623--Organdy Ribbon Pack
  • #148523- Butterfly Duet Punch
  • #148525- Cake Builder Punch
  • Many of the Clear Blocks
  • #148554 - Gingham DSP
  • #148537- Made to Bloom Kit
  • #148531 - Happiness Blooms Memories & More Cards

While only a few are "unorderable", all are on backorder.  Shipments are due in within a couple of weeks.  Once Stampin' Up! gets the items into the warehouse, they will fill all backorders and turn ordering on for those items listed as unorderable.

And if you've placed an order recently, you should be aware that many UPS shipments are being delayed during to the cold weather.

Now for some good news!  New items will be added to the Sale-a-Bration catalog beginning the second week of February!  I'll post those once I find out what they are--Stampin' Up! will tell us tomorrow what will be new!

I'll be emailing more tutorials in my newsletter tomorrow so if you aren't already receiving them, sign up here

Let It Ride Swap Card

Anyone love horses?

Every month (except when I'm too busy or overwhelmed) I'm involved in at least one swap

I'm in two swaps this month and the first one uses anything from the Occasions catalog.  I decided to use Let It Ride

I love to watercolor and thought this would be ideal for that.  I started with a piece of watercolor paper cut to 3 x 4-1/4".  I first stamped the mountains in basic gray using the Waterfront stamp set.  I used a little ink from the cover of the stamp pad to move some of the mountain down so it would reach the trees.

Next, I moved to the trees from Let It Ride.  I stamped some in Mossy Meadow and some in Old Olive.  Let those sit awhile and dry well (I came back later to add a little Old Olive in between the trees to create more of a forest.

The horses came next.  I stamped them in Soft Suede and let them dry well.  I then colored them in with some Crumb Cake ink.

I went back to Old Olive to color in the grass and throughout the trees.  It's important not to use a very wet paintbrush or it will all run.  (if that happens in the trees, just let that dry and go back and stamp the trees again in Mossy Meadow to get more definition).

Last I added some sky using Balmy Blue.

You could use watercolor pencils or even Stampin' Blends for your coloring too--whatever works best for you.

I mounted the watercolor piece on a piece of Soft Suede cardstock cut to 4 x 5-1/4" using dimensionals.  That piece was then added to the Very Vanilla Thick card base.

I cut a piece of Burlap ribbon at about 3-3/4" long and attached it to the bottom of the watercolor piece.  I then took about 4 inches of Copper trim and spread the ends, attaching it to the Burlap ribbon.

I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out with the squarish rectangle stitched die.  I then added it to the top of the ribbon using a dimensional at the bottom and snail at the top (since the watercolor piece was raised on dimensionals, I needed the bottom of the sentiment to also be raised.)

Don't forget about the inside of your card!  I stamped the "Live like someone left the gate open" sentiment on the inside and stamped one set of trees in the bottom right corner.

This would make a great birthday card (just change the sentiments) and a super masculine card.
