My health
Most of you may be aware of my health issues but thought I would update you.
In September of 2019 I fell at Sam's and crushed my right shoulder. I had surgery and my arm was immobilized for 6 weeks. 6 months of physical therapy followed. I still was unable to raise my arm above my shoulder, which meant my husband had to help me dress and blow dry my hair. What a bummer! So I went back to my doctor and he decided on a shoulder replacement (which still required 6 weeks immobilization and PT for 5 months).
The week before my surgery I went in for my annual mammogram and they found a tumor. An ultrasound followed by a biospy showed cancer. Triple Negative breast cancer which is very aggressive as it is not hormone related and doesn't respond to the "normal" breast cancer treatment. I decided to go ahead with my shoulder surgery because I didn't know if I would need a mastectomy or not and I knew I would need my shoulder if I did. I also requested genetic testing and found out I had Lynch Syndrome (causes all sorts of cancers).
So I had my shoulder replacement surgery. Then I had a lumpectomy. I had 4 chemotherapy treatments, ending in late March. That was followed by 21 radiation treatments. During all of these treatments I had my yearly full-body check at the dermatologist and they found a squamous cell carcinoma on my let. So in the middle of radiation, I had to have surgery on my leg to remove that cancer and it took a skin graft to cover it. I then had to keep my leg elevated above my head for 3 weeks. Fun times in a wheelchair for my radiation treatments!
BUT that is all over for now! I recently had CT scans of my chest, abdomen and pelvis and they were ALL CLEAR!
I have a mammogram coming up soon and that will be it for 6 months! I have had so many doctor's appointments and my life has revolved around those! I will be so happy to get back to appointments only every 6 months!
Thanks if you read through all this! I know it was a lot. During all this time, I really had very little time to craft or make cards. I appreciate all of you who supported me during all this time with your purchases and your cards you mailed to me!
