Quilted Christmas swap with Removable Ornament

Quilted christmas ornament card

This is a card I made for a swap. The ornament is removable so you could put on a tree.

Paper Sizes:
Whisper White Thick card base 5.5 x 8.5 folded in half
Real Red, 5.25 x 4
Whisper White 4.75 x 3.5
Quilted Christmas Designer Paper, 1.25 x 4.75

I started by making the ornament. The Quilted Christmas Designer Paper Stack has sheets of paper with the quilt star on it (both red and green) with 4 to a page. I used the Quilt Builder dies and cut out around it while using the inside stitch die at the same time. I cut out a green and a red one.

I cut a piece of Jute twine to make the loop at the top. I put a dimensional on the inside top and attached the jute to it. I then took Multipurpose Tombow glue to glue all around the edges. I put a small piece of a cotton ball inside to add some depth to the ornament and then put the two die cuts together to create the ornament.

I took rhinestones and colored with Sharpie markers to make one side green and one side red.

After I took the photo, I decided the ornament needed some more pizzazz so I took a white gel pen (now retired) and went along the stitched areas so they stand out more.

Next I took the whisper white piece and stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink on the top right corner. Once dry I ran the entire piece in the Quilt Top embossing folder. I decided I wanted to do it with the debossed side on top (the sentiment showed up better that way).

At the bottom of that piece I added the Quilted Christmas Designer Paper. There are some great patterns in that paper stack but chose one with a white background and more colorful quilt patterns.

I then took about 5-1/4" of the Quilted Christmas 1/4" ribbon and wrapped it over the seam. (I used a glue dot to hold it down on the front and then taped it down on the back.

I then added the embossed/ribbon piece to the Real Red layer using Fast Fuse. It takes something a little stronger than snail to hold an embossed piece to another. Glue would work too.

Finally I added the entire piece to the white card base and added the ornament using a single glue dot so it is easily removable.
