Do you Love the Distinktive Stamps?

Do you love the Distinktive (exclusive to Stampin' Up!) stamps?  They are so realistic!  If you've never tried them or love them already, you can get a new stamp set in the April Paper Pumpkin kit!  Subscribe by April 10 to get this kit!

More about the April kit:

  • Makes 9 cards (3 each of 3 designs)
  • Includes an adorable gift box in addition to the cards
  • Coordinating colors:  Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo, Gray Granite, Mint Macaron, and So Saffron

Here is what Stampin' Up! has to say about Distinktive stamps:

  • Distinktive stamps give you photo-realistic images with just one stamp.  They have a special texture that gives added depth and dimension in just one stamp.  (No two-step stamping--YAY!)
  • These stamps are available only from Stampin' Up! and are made using a patent-pending process.
  • Distinktive stamps are available in red rubber and photopolymer; Paper Pumpkin's April kit includes photopolymer stamps.
  • Shop Distinktive stamps in the online store by searching "Distinktive" or love for the Distinktive icon in Stampin' Up! catalogs.

You can watch a video on Distinktive stamps here.

One tip I can give you for using these stamps--your ink pad should not be too "juicy".  If you aren't getting clear images, you can use a straight edge and clear some ink off to one side or you can try stamping-off to see if that works.  Have any problems or questions about these stamps?  I'll be happy to help!

Subscribe by April 10 or purchase prepaid kits (order by the end of March and earn FREE Sale-a-Bration items).  If you purchase prepaid kits, Stampin' Up! will send you an activation code.  Go to http://bit.ly/PaperPumpkinSubscribe and enter your activation code no later than April 10, 10:50 pm MT.  It will ask for a credit card (just in case you want to continue to get kits after your prepaid runs out but you can cancel at any time before the 10th of the month), but you won't be charged a second time.

I'd love to see your completed cards!  Please post them on my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/beckysstampingspot so we can all see what you've done!

Painted Seasons One Sheet Wonder Cards

I'm part of Jessica Taylor's One Sheet Wonder Club and every month we get a new template, video, and a pdf to make cards.  This month's template was for a 6 x 6 piece of Designer Series Paper.  Don't have that size paper?  Just cut your 12 x 12 paper and make a piece that is 6 x 6.  Jessica also has a template for using 12 x 12 when she makes a template that is 8-1/2 x 11" paper.

I decided to use the Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper (12 x 12) that is free during Sale-a-Bration.  You can get the bundle (stamp set and paper) with a $100 purchase or just the paper with a $50 purchase.

I've made cards with 2 of the sheets of paper (there's paper for each season) and will be using the March template next month for the last two seasons so check back later for those cards.

The first series of cards are these:

With these cards, I used the Free DSP, free ribbon (already sold out, sorry), and the coordinating dies that you can purchase to match the stamp set.  The sentiment is from Humming Along.

The second set uses the FREE DSP but everything else used on the cards are from either the annual catalog or the Occasions catalog.

For the card with the circles and sentiment, I stamped off the leaves in Pumpkin Pie before stamping on the circle and then I stamped the sentiment over those leaves in Poppy Parade.  I also cut out a little mushroom from the paper to add to that sentiment.

Check back in a few days and I'll have the other two seasons done with a different template.

Painted Seasons Tutorial Card

I am part of a Tutorial Coop and the theme for February is "Sale-a-Bration".  I created this thank you card featuring the Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper, free with a qualifying purchase as well as the FREE Country Floral Embossing Folder!

I used the ink from the tops of my ink pads to watercolor the flowers on this embossed circle (made from Shimmery White cardstock) and I colored pearls with my Blends.

Animal Outing Card

My 4-year-old grandson's pre-school has a mailbox for the students during the month of February.  They ask that we send letters, etc for them to read every Friday.  We sent letters and of course, I had to send him a card!

I didn't take a photo of the inside but it told him how proud we were using the Incredible Like You stamp set.  This was a fun card to make!

Geared Up Valentine/Anniversary Card

I am part of a Tutorial Coop so each month we are given a theme and have to make a tutorial using that theme.  January's theme was Valentine's, Anniversary, Love.  It's great getting to see what everyone else makes and then share those tutorials with YOU!  (I send them out in my newsletter so you have to have signed up for my emails to receive them--Sign up here)

Here is the card I created for my tutorial:

It's so hard sometimes to come up with something that is masculine. Since my guy is "Mr. Fix-It" and does all the work on our cars, I loved using this to make him a valentine.  Even after being together for over 50 years he still "jump starts my heart".

Now all the details on the card:  Geared Up Garage stamp set, Garage Gears Dies, Be Mine Stitched Dies, Classic Garage Designer Paper

Let It Ride Swap Card

Anyone love horses?

Every month (except when I'm too busy or overwhelmed) I'm involved in at least one swap

I'm in two swaps this month and the first one uses anything from the Occasions catalog.  I decided to use Let It Ride

I love to watercolor and thought this would be ideal for that.  I started with a piece of watercolor paper cut to 3 x 4-1/4".  I first stamped the mountains in basic gray using the Waterfront stamp set.  I used a little ink from the cover of the stamp pad to move some of the mountain down so it would reach the trees.

Next, I moved to the trees from Let It Ride.  I stamped some in Mossy Meadow and some in Old Olive.  Let those sit awhile and dry well (I came back later to add a little Old Olive in between the trees to create more of a forest.

The horses came next.  I stamped them in Soft Suede and let them dry well.  I then colored them in with some Crumb Cake ink.

I went back to Old Olive to color in the grass and throughout the trees.  It's important not to use a very wet paintbrush or it will all run.  (if that happens in the trees, just let that dry and go back and stamp the trees again in Mossy Meadow to get more definition).

Last I added some sky using Balmy Blue.

LET DRY WELL!

You could use watercolor pencils or even Stampin' Blends for your coloring too--whatever works best for you.

I mounted the watercolor piece on a piece of Soft Suede cardstock cut to 4 x 5-1/4" using dimensionals.  That piece was then added to the Very Vanilla Thick card base.

I cut a piece of Burlap ribbon at about 3-3/4" long and attached it to the bottom of the watercolor piece.  I then took about 4 inches of Copper trim and spread the ends, attaching it to the Burlap ribbon.

I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out with the squarish rectangle stitched die.  I then added it to the top of the ribbon using a dimensional at the bottom and snail at the top (since the watercolor piece was raised on dimensionals, I needed the bottom of the sentiment to also be raised.)

Don't forget about the inside of your card!  I stamped the "Live like someone left the gate open" sentiment on the inside and stamped one set of trees in the bottom right corner.

This would make a great birthday card (just change the sentiments) and a super masculine card.
