Boo To You Fun Fold Card

The card I made for my Tutorial Co-op uses the Boo To You stamp set and Monster Mash Designer Series Paper.  Our theme for this past month was Halloween-Holiday Catalog.

This was a fun card to make.  It is a fun fold and I'm not sure what to call it--maybe you know?

Here is the inside:

Here are all the details:

Smoky Slate CS:  8 1/4" x 4 14", scored at 5 1/2"; 3" x 7 1/2", scored at 3 1/2"; scrap for the frame diecut

Basic Black CS:  2 3/4" x 3 1/4"; 2 5/8" x 4 1/8"

Whisper White:  2 5/8" x 4"

Monster Mash DSP:  2 1/2" x 4 1/8" plus a small piece with the figures (you can choose whichever one you like)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Orienting your large piece of smoky slate cardstock, fold the scored piece with the smaller piece going up
  2. Attach the DSP piece to the black cardstock that fits on the front lower flap and then attach to that flap
  3. Attach the smaller smoky slate piece inside the flap on the 5 1/2' x 4 1/4" back piece so that the bottom touches at the bottom fold and the smaller part folds over the front flap
  4. Attach the black 3 1/4" piece of cardstock to the front of that overhanging flap
  5. Diecut the ornate frame in smoky slate
  6. Fussy cut a skeleton (or figure of your choice) out of the Monster Mash DSP and attach to the ornate frame with dimensionals.  Attach googly eyes.  Attach to card front with snail, or the adhesive of your choice.
  7. Using your favorite adhesive, attach the ribbon to the card
  8. Using the Whisper White piece, diecut using a stitched rectangle.  Stamp the sentiment on that piece with Memento Tuxedo Black (or any black ink).  Attach to the inside of the card

I love making fun-fold cards!  Most of the time, they are fairly simple to make but make a huge impression on the recipient of the card!

Dino Days Birthday Card

My youngest grandson just turned 1.  It's hard to believe he's that old already but he is.  I made a card for his birthday.  I had planned to use the retired Foxy Friends and the punch because his room is done in foxes (and so was his birthday cake) but I found dinosaur wrapping paper and decided to use the Dino Days suite instead.

This card was really easy to make using the Dino Roar stamp set and the matching dies.  The dies cut out the dinosaurs on the Dinoroar Designer Series Paper so it was even easier!  I hardly stamped at all!

All the cuts:

  • Pineapple Punch Cardstock  -    8-1/2" x 5-1/2" scored at 4-1/4"
  • Whisper White CS  - 2 pieces of 5-1/4" x 4"
  • Dinoroar DSP -  2-3/4" x 4-1/8" plus cut around the dinosaur figures so they will fit in your cutting machine to die cut with the dies
  • Pool Party - scraps to cut out the egg
  • Real Red Glimmer Paper (coming in the Holiday Catalog) scrap

Directions:

  • Using your die cut machine, cut out the dinosaurs you want for the card from your DSP.  Cut out the eggs from Pool Party CS.  Cut out the number 1, using the retired Large Numbers dies.  Cut out the frame from one Whisper White piece using the 3rd and 5th from the largest Stitched Rectangle Dies (place them how you want the frame to look and cut out).  For the inside, use the second from the largest rectangle die.
  • Stamp the sentiment to the frame using Lovely Lipstick ink.  I masked off the "hatched" from the stamp using a post-it and then stamped.
  • Adhere the frame to the larger piece of DSP and then attach to the card front.
  • Attach the dinosaurs and eggs to the front using your favorite adhesive and dimensionals.
  • Stamp your sentiment on the inside white piece and attach a dinosaur with adhesive.  Adhere to the inside of the card.

Don't forget to stamp your envelope or use some of your designer series paper (DSP) to put on the flap to "pretty up" your envelope!

Here are some photos from the party:

As you can see, Eli really enjoyed his smash cake!

Rooted In Nature Mirror Image Card

For my July tutorial for my Tutorial Co-op, I created a card that uses the Mirror Image Technique.  Our theme for this month was Seasons--Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.  I decided to do Fall.

Here is the inside of the card and you can see that the oak tree will rotate and is visible on both sides.

All the Details:

Whisper White Thick - 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4

Whisper White - 5-1/8 x 3-7/8, enough to die cut 2 oak trees, small amount for sentiment label

Gray Granite -  scrap for label

Instructions:

Start with sponge daubers and the oak tree stamp.  Sponge colors (I started with Early Espresso on the trunk and some branches) on the stamp to create a fall tree look.  Huff on the stamp and then stamp on whisper white.  Die cut this image and cut out an additional tree.  Using the Silicone Craft Sheet, sponge another oak tree stamp like you did the first one.  Huff on it and then stamp it on the silicone mat.  Place your plain die-cut image (backside) over this stamped image and press down carefully.  Lift and you should have a mirror image of the oak tree.

Stamp the birch stamp in Gray Granite ink on the Whisper White piece.  Determine where you want to place this card front onto the card base but don't adhere yet.  Using your diecut machine, die cut the scalloped oval into both of the pieces of cardstock.  (It may not cut through both pieces totally.  If not, remove the cut-out birch oval and run through your machine again to get ovals cut into both).

Using about 4 inches of Linen Thread and glue dots, center the thread on the back of the oak tree die cut and attach.  Add the mirror image oak tree to the other leaving thread strings hanging out on top and bottom. Attach the oak tree diecuts to the front of the card base fitting them into the scalloped oval.  Adhere the birch piece on top of the base, lining up the ovals.

Stamp the sentiment in Pumpkin Pie on Whisper White and cut out using the Stitched Nested Labels.  Cut out a Gray Granite label to back that white one.

I sponged a leaf stamp with various colors and stamped on the inside of the card.

This was a fun card to make!
