August Paper Pumpkin Sympathy Card

It's never easy having to make a sympathy card and unfortunately, I've needed two in the past two weeks for family members. One of the wonderful things about Stampin' Up! is the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit.  I had received my August 2018 kit but had not had time to make the cards in it, but it was perfect for what I needed to make today.  This kit comes with everything  (ink, stamps, card bases, labels, leaf die cuts, glue dots, and dimensionals) you need to make the cards but I made a few changes.

I could have made the card exactly as designed in the Paper Pumpkin kit, but I have a hard time doing that without stepping it up some.  I cut down one of the cards to make the front 4 x 5.25.  I then added a sheet of Old Olive 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 behind it and adhered it to a card base of Blackberry Bliss.  I stamped the sentiment on one of the labels (it's trimmed in silver and has matching envelopes in silver) in the kit using the Blackberry Bliss ink spot included. If you want those silver foil-edged envelopes, you can now purchase them with matching cards (they also come in gold).   I die cut the Old Olive piece using the Stitched Seasons Framelits dies to back the label.  I made a small bow using Fresh Fig 1/8" Sheer Ribbon as it's close enough to use on this card

When I cut down the card base included in the kit, I got a small strip of the printed florals attached to the white back.  I then cut that down to fit in the inside of the card.  I used the Kindness & Compassion stamp set for the inside sentiment.

So, you can make the cards just as the kit is designed or make them however you prefer.  Below you'll see the cards as designed.

If you aren't a subscriber, then you have missed out on this gorgeous kit BUT one of the perks of being a subscriber is purchasing past kits.  Normally those kits become available about 3 months after they first come out if there are any left.  You can become a subscriber and then have the option to purchase some past kits.  Interested?  Subscribe here!  You will control your subscription and can suspend at any time.  Want to see some alternative cards for this kit and others?  You need to check out the official Stampin' Up! It's never easy having to make these type cards, but Paper Pumpkin can really help when you are emotionally upset!
